In an ideal world, every school should be equipped with essential infrastructure like classrooms, science labs, sports facilities, and libraries. Unfortunately, many primary schools lack these basic resources. Even when available, their condition and usability can be questionable. This deficit of infrastructure often limits students to academic books, preventing them from exploring the broader world of knowledge and hindering their holistic development, as traditional curriculum’s often lack activity-based learning components.

To bridge this educational gap, Yuva Mitra, in collaboration with Piaggio Vehicles Pvt. Ltd., has initiated a transformative project called “Barakhadi Express” in 74 schools within the Baramati block.

The heart of the Barakhadi Express program lies in our mobile library initiative, where we distribute a diverse range of books to students, promoting a love for reading and a thirst for knowledge. We understand that reading is the key to unlocking a child’s imagination and enhancing their understanding of the world.

We meticulously select and distribute books based on the unique learning needs of each student. These books encompass both academic resources and non-academic materials such as comics, fictional stories, biographies, and knowledge-enhancing texts.

Our mobile library van, brimming with 2500 books, visits Zilla Parishad schools in villages twice a month. Here, students and teachers have the opportunity to register and borrow books, breaking down the barriers to accessing literature, especially in government schools.

At Yuva Mitra, we firmly believe that fostering a love for reading is a crucial step in nurturing young minds. Reading not only develops their cognitive skills but also enhances their general knowledge, imaginative thinking, and reasoning abilities. Barakhadi Express is our commitment to inculcating these vital reading habits in school-going children.

Project Objectives:

1. Enhancing Reading Habits: We aim to instill a strong reading habit among government school children.

2. General Knowledge Boost: Through our diverse book collection, we work on enhancing the general knowledge and overall personality development of these young learners.

3. Teacher Training: We provide essential training to teachers to establish a robust school-level support system for effective knowledge dissemination.

4. Collaboration: We closely coordinate with block education officers to implement educational interventions that benefit the students.
