LIVELIHOOD AND SKILL DEVELOPMENT

At Yuva Mitra, we believe that sustainable rural development is built on three key pillars—livelihood, skill development, and life skills. Since 2012, we have worked to uplift marginalized communities across India by promoting both agricultural and non-agricultural livelihoods.

Our initiatives directly align with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) such as SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), and SDG 5 (Gender Equality). Through innovative farming techniques and programs like goat rearing, we help families increase income and improve nutrition. Our goat-based livelihood models provide not just economic stability but also essential protein through goat milk, addressing hunger and malnutrition.

Skill development is a cornerstone of our work. We empower rural youth and women with technical training and entrepreneurial skills that enhance employability and open doors to new opportunities. Life skills training—covering communication, decision-making, problem-solving, and critical thinking—builds personal confidence and fosters leadership within communities.

A key focus area is women’s empowerment. We support women through skill-building, education, and the formation of women-owned Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs). These institutions strengthen market linkages, boost incomes, and contribute to financial independence and social equity.

From transforming farming practices to nurturing entrepreneurship, Yuva Mitra plays a vital role in fostering resilient rural communities. Our work is more than a program—it’s a pathway to prosperity, self-reliance, and lasting change.
