Overview:
The Integrated Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) Program in Mahad Block, Raigad District, Maharashtra, is a pivotal initiative spearheaded by Yuva Mitra in collaboration with the Collective Good Foundation. Launched in April 2023, this project aims to enhance menstrual health and hygiene practices among women and adolescent girls in rural Maharashtra. Objective:
The MHM program aims to improve menstrual health and hygiene in rural Maharashtra by raising awareness, providing access to affordable menstrual products, enhancing sanitation infrastructure, reducing stigma, and empowering women and girls to manage their menstrual health with confidence.
Access to menstrual products improved:
The Integrated Menstrual Hygiene Management Program has significantly impacted the community. Awareness and knowledge about menstrual hygiene improved, with 87% of respondents demonstrating better understanding and 92% of adolescent girls receiving education. Hygiene practices saw a positive shift, with 95% of respondents using hygienic menstrual products and 88% of women practicing proper menstrual hygiene management. Access to menstrual products improved, with 80% of adolescent girls reporting better access and 72% of respondents using reusable products. Sanitation facilities were enhanced, with 85% of respondents reporting better access to clean and private facilities and 90% of schools confirming adequate facilities for female students.
Achievements:
- Conducted menstrual hygiene awareness sessions for 430 women, 101 adolescent girls, and 106 adolescent boys.
- Trained 16 frontline workers for community outreach.
- Provided affordable menstrual products.
